Daintree Dreaming Day 7

Our final day in paradise arrived, and we are sad to leave.

Crystalbrook Bailey has a great breakfast ‘grab ‘n' go’ setup with pastries, fresh coffee, juice and local yoghurts.

We were lucky enough to be offered late checkout, and considering our flight isn’t until the mid-afternoon, this suited us perfectly! We spent the morning packing our suitcases for the flight before making our way back onto the boulevard to stroll in the midday sun.

A short walk from the hotel is the enrapturing Cairns Art Gallery. Currently, two exhibits are open, filled with work by local and indigenous artists. Melanie Hava was one artist in particular who captured my attention with her bright pieces depicting local flora and fauna. So much so that I bought a Maxwell & Williams Mug with her art of cassowaries in the underbrush.

At last, it was time to return to the hotel and collect our bags. The Cairns airport is easy to navigate, with checking online making bag drop a breeze. The Qantas staff were delightful, including on the QantasLink flight back to Brisbane. We were greeted in Brisbane by cool weather and a stunning sunset.

And so our week-long getaway came to an end. We chased waterfalls, snorkelled with sea turtles, ate Kangaroo, bush plums and other local produce.

One thing is for certain; I will be back, Far North Queensland - you can count on that!
