Ultimate Balkans and Transylvania Travel Talk Tour: Cluj Napoca, Day 4

This morning we were up at 7am for breakfast, as we departed on the bus at 8am sharp. The breakfast this morning has been the best by far! A large buffet of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses. A tea station with pots and looseleaf occupied an entire counter. The Hotel Cubix was perfectly comfortable; clean bedding, good bathrooms and decent sized rooms.
8am we departed the hotel which marked the beginning of a 2 hour drive to Sighisoara. Sighisoara is a beautiful little village nestled amongst the hills. We did a quick walking tour to orientate ourselves in town before having two hours of exploring and finding early lunch/snacks. We wandered up and around the clocktower on the hill before walking through the town and settling in at Mimoza Wine & Dine. They weren’t open for lunch service yet sadly but we had lovely coffees as we sat inside in the warmth. At 12:15 we were back on the bus and on the road toward Targu Mures. By 2pm we arrived at Targu Mures and took a walk past the citadel and museum, watching the gypsies in their long skirts with scarves in their hair.
We have a 1.5 hour drive to Cluj Napoca where we stay tonight after a stint in town to wander and grab a drink. On our way driving past the air base we hit traffic when a chunk of the motorway was being resurfaced, which held us up for about 45 minutes. Watching the traffic crawl through offered endless entertainment. Luckily we are a pretty relaxed group so no one was particularly phased by the delay.
Cluj Napoca is a big city with a lovely central square. A few of us wandered the streets and took a quick peek inside the central church before settling down in an Irish pub (O’Grady Irish Pub) for drinks and dinner. I ordered a Hot Totty which was amazing (Bushmills Whiskey, Lemon, Cloves, Cinnamon, and Sugar) and a Guinness Pie. Both were delicious. The bus meeting time was 7.45pm and by 8.30 we were checked into the hotel.
