Daintree Dreaming Day 1

Today I set off on an adventure, boarding my first set of vacation based flights since 2019. I broke my longest flight drought only a few weeks ago when I flew interstate to visit my family.

This week, I flew with a friend from Brisbane Airport, Queensland, Australia, to Cairns in Far North Queensland. We flew with QANTAS, and the flight, crew and onboard dining were fantastic.

We landed in Cairns and enjoyed breakfast in a delightful café on the main strip, named Caffiend. We then walked to collect our hire car from Hertz Cairns before setting off on our adventure. We rented an SUV and met Mitzy, our Mitsubishi ASX LS 2020. She has been an utter delight, and I must say, I’m quite sold on buying one when my little Toyota Yaris eventually bites the dust.

We made our way up the coast toward Port Douglas, where we stopped in at the Barron Falls Lookout and enjoyed a stroll through the Kuranda Markets atop the mountain. We picked up some local produce from the vendors, including Ripsaw Beef Jerky, Wondaree Macadamia Nuts and Plum Jam

In the afternoon, we checked in at the Ramada Wyndham and enjoyed a stroll along Four Mile Beach. We were back in the hotel in time for afternoon cocktails and dinner by the pool.
