Daintree Dreaming Day 5

This morning we had a quiet start, finding bacon and egg rolls at the Turtle Rock Café for breakfast. Around midday, we made our way to the Ocean Safari sign in for our snorkelling trip for the afternoon.

Due to our snorkel day hitting the end of stinger season (Irukandji jellyfish), we were instructed to wear wetsuits to reduce skin contact in the event of coming across one. After suiting up, it was a short walk down to Myall Beach, where the bright yellow Ocean Safari boat bobbed offshore. We were greeted by Fede (our marine biologist guide) and Keith (our captain), who set the mood for a fun afternoon on the water.

The Mackay reef was crisp, clear and beautiful. All manner of ocean coral, fish and critters lay in wait for us below the surface. We could not have asked for a more perfect day! We spent the afternoon bobbing around Mackay reef before setting down for a few hours on a beautiful sand island, all to ourselves.

As the afternoon began to draw to a close, we returned to the Safari Lodge. One recommended restaurant nearby and within walking distance from our cabin was the Cassowary Restaurant. A picturesque spot where the staff were welcoming and the food enjoyable.
